North Star – “Basler BT-67 is truly a game changer for the north”

THUNDER BAY, ON – AVIATION – Effective May 25th 2015,  North Star Air will open its new operating base in Red Lake and effective June 1st 2015 they are offering new services to Neskantaga First Nation from their operating base in Pickle Lake as part of their ongoing growth and expansion plans for servicing the North.

From the new Red Lake base they will be offering their full suite of cost-effective air transportation solutions that include Charter, Passenger and Freight/Cargo services. The initial communities that will be serviced from Red Lake with North Star Air’s flex-flight services are Deer Lake, Pikangikum and Poplar Hill.

Establishing new value add business relationships with North Star Air  is very important for the communities as it will offer more choices and convenience for both personal and business travelers. Given their geographical proximity to each other, Deer Lake and Poplar Hill have built a long-standing bi-lateral community and economic development relationship. The inter-community flights included in these new services are also very beneficial to these two communities as it will facilitate more frequent travel between their communities as they further their growing relationship.

In response to Neskantaga growing air transportation demand, North Star Air will be utilizing their Pickle Lake base to provide new passenger and cargo services to Neskantaga.

Opening up the market to more competition will increase the standard of living for all members of the communities as North Star Air will offer competitive airfare rates along with industry leading customer service.

North Star Air has 4 Pilatus, 2 Cessna caravans, and 2 Basler Turbo BT-67s. The company is bringing on additional aircraft which will be coming this summer.

The introduction of the modernized Basler BT-67 is truly a game changer for the north . The versatility and flexibility of the Basler BT-67 to transport cargo, passenger or the combination of both cargo and passenger will translate into better supply chain economics plus on-time performance efficiencies to serve their contract clients and customers.
