THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – March Break has arrived. Weather conditions in Northern Ontario are a mixed bag of contrasts. In Thunder Bay at 3AM it was +9c. Further north it is far colder.

While there are no weather alerts for Northern Ontario, conditions vary.

Fort Severn for example is cold. For Washaho Cree Nation the forecast is for periods of light snow ending early this morning then a mix of sun and cloud. There is a 40 percent chance of flurries late this afternoon. Local blowing snow this morning. Wind northwest 40 km/h gusting to 60. High minus 14. Wind chill minus 30.

Just to the west in the Far North there are blizzard conditions in York and Churchill Manitoba.

This is also the time of year when the Winter Roads start to become questionable in places.

But with no blizzard and without Eastern Canada’s massive snowfall totals, life in Northwestern Ontario is going along heading to spring.
