THUNDER BAY – A Ford pick-up truck slammed into a tree on Clarkson Ave at about 4PM Saturday afternoon leaving the truck heavily damaged, the driver seriously injured, and the tree relatively unscathed.

Investigating officers were dispatched to the vicinity of Clarkson Avenue and Windsor Street and found the front of the truck wrapped around the trunk of the tree. There were no skid marks found, and officers concluded that the truck was simply driven into the tree.

A 52 year old male driver sustained a significant laceration to his head, and had to be transported to hospital for treatment. He has since been released.

Charges are pending.
