THUNDER BAY – Sony Playstation and Microsoft Xbox users are experiencing a frustrating day. Hackers have attacked the network that the game servers are connecting to.

Trying to re-store service, the Xbox is offering updates at support.xbox.com.

The Lizard Squad hacker group is claiming responsibility for prior attacks on the servers.

The move on the Sony network comes as the company has suffered attacks on its servers over the movie “The Interview“.

Thousands of people have reported Christmas Day problems on their Xbox Live and Playstation gaming networks, as a band of hackers took gleeful credit.
The networks, which allow users of the popular consoles to play the video games with a wider online community, first crashed on Wednesday evening and the problems persisted into Christmas Day, enraging many users — but especially those powering-up new machines from Santa Claus.

The frustration for customers and families on Christmas Day is being shared widely on social media.

Jokingly, without computer gaming it is entirely possible some families might be forced to actually talk with each other.
