THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police report that “A loaded handgun was seized by the Thunder Bay Police in connection with an execution of a search warrant on a north side motel on October 3, 2014 just after 3:00PM EDT.

The Thunder Bay Police Drug Unit and the Emergency task unit were in the process of executing a search warrant when individuals were seen leaving the motel room that was the target of the investigation. The vehicle they were driving was stopped on Powely Street at Cumberland Street and the four occupants were removed from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle located a loaded handgun. Two of the occupants were charged with weapons related offences.

Shelley Hamilton, 39 years old of Thunder Bay has been charged with:
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Possession of a Firearm for a Dangerous Purpose
• Possession of a Firearm while Prohibited
• Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/Ammunition

Brandyn Hunter, 18 years of Toronto has been charged with:
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
• Possession of a Firearm for a Dangerous Purpose
• Possession of a Firearm while Prohibited
• Breach of Probation

Both individuals made a court appearance on the weekend and were remanded to the District Jail and will make a next court appearance on October 6, 2014.
