TORONTO – BUSINESS – “After working with the CBC for the last eight years, I truly appreciate what a national treasure this institution is. I’m proud to have been part of its expanding role as a place where ideas that matter to Canadians can be debated from all sides,” said O’Leary. “At the CBC, I’ve had the opportunity to work with world-class producers and journalists, particularly Amanda Lang, with whom I enjoyed having so many intriguing and lively discussions over the years.”

However, after five years as a co-host of The Lang & O’Leary Exchange and commentator on CBC News Network, Kevin O’Leary has made the decision to move on to pursue new opportunities.

Kevin first joined CBC News Network in August of 2009, joining his long-time BNN co-host Amanda Lang to launch The Lang & O’Leary Exchange. The show was a part of the relaunch of Newsworld into CBC News Network that fall.

“I’ve really enjoyed working with Kevin and will miss the daily battle of wills. I have the greatest respect for Kevin and wish him all the success in the world,” said Amanda Lang, co-host of The Lang & O’Leary Exchange.

O’Leary also often provided lively and informative commentary on the top business stories of the day for CBC News Network.

“I want to thank Kevin for all of his contributions to CBC News throughout his time with us. While sometimes controversial, you could always count on him to provide honest insight and a unique perspective. It’s been a pleasure working with him and I wish him all the best in his new ventures” said Jennifer McGuire, General Manager and Editor in Chief, CBC News.Senior Business Correspondent Amanda Lang will take the helm of a new business program replacing The Lang & O’Leary Exchange on CBC News Network and CBC Television this Fall. The new show will focus on the top business stories of the day, showcasing Lang’s considerable talents as a host, interviewer and veteran business journalist.
