WINNIPEG – ANISHINABEK – Grand Chief Derek Nepinak is staying at the helm of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs. The Grand Chief was re-elected today.

“The work is selfless and exhausting. Its not glamorous and oftentimes tragic. Its scary, its fun, its disappointing and exhilarating,” stated the Grand Chief. “It shows my success and it shows my failure. Its my life and I honour it as the beautiful gift granted to me by the Creator”.

The Manitoba Chiefs voted today at their Annual General Meeting and choose Grand Chief Nepinak to remain as their Grand Chief.

“I will work with the tools that I have to continue to do the work,” added the Grand Chief, “that I am tasked with in the time I’m given. I’m honoured that the Chiefs have put me back in this role and I am honoured to receive all the congratulations from across the country. We take a strong position here in Manitoba and I will do my part to continue that work”.
