TORONTO = POLITICS – The Ontario Liberals are not seeing eye to eye with the Ontario Progressive Conservatives over the PC plan for job creation.

In a statement, the Ontario Liberals say, “Today, Tim Hudak finally came clean with his More for Millionaires plan. And he’s focused like a laser on helping the richest Ontarians, while hurting the middle class.

The Liberals say that Hudak wants to:

  • Increase University tuition for lower- and middle- income Ontarians by $1,780 each year, and college tuition by $820 each year. Hudak will add $7,120 to student debt—plus interest—over the course of their degree.
  • Roll back the planned increase in the Ontario Child Benefit, taking $100/year away from Ontario’s poorest children
  • Eliminate the healthy homes renovation tax credit, making it harder for seniors to stay in their homes as they age
  • Eliminate 100,000 middle class jobs in the public service, including firing teachers and putting your kids in bigger classes

The Liberals ask, “And why is Hudak doing all this? So that he can cut taxes for the richest 2% of all Ontarians, and give big business a tax cut that they don’t need”.

“Tim Hudak’s reckless plan will make life more expensive for everyday Ontarians, and throw the economy into recession,” said Scarborough Centre MPP Brad Duguid. “And for what? To balance the budget one year early, cut taxes for the richest, and give more money to big business.”
