Weather Hammers Some Thunder Bay Roads

Breaking NewsTHUNDER BAY – Roadways struggled with the rain yesterday across Thunder Bay. A road washout on the north side of Onion Lake Road, a few kilometres north of the Kam-Current Road intersection closed the roadway.

The Ministry of Transportation (MOT) states there is no set time when the road might be reopened.

In Shuniah, just to the east of the city, Lakeshore Drive was closed near Charles Road. That closure was needed after a culvert caused a washout.

The Township of Shuniah says that the road closure should re-open later Wednesday morning.

One person is dead and another injured after a major road washout on Highway 527 near the Gull Bay First Nation. The Armstrong Highway remains closed.
