TORONTO – These by-election campaigns have been a team effort supported by countless Ontario Liberals from across this great province. You are the reason we were able to reach so many voters and share our balanced and strong plan for Ontario with the people of Niagara Falls and Thornhill.

Voters in these ridings now have a better understanding of our plan to increase retirement security so people can retire comfortably, to bring good jobs to Ontario that pay decent wages, to ensure that we have quality health care and education available to all, and to reduce commute times everywhere in our province.

After weeks of hard work, I want to thank Joyce and Sandra for a job well-done. It is never easy to put your name forward as a candidate, knowing the sacrifices that lie ahead. But we do it again and again because of our belief in something greater than any of us – a strong Ontario with a proud heritage and a bright future.

I invite you to join me and other Ontario Liberals across the province in congratulating Joyce and Sandra on their hard-fought campaigns. Our candidates worked extremely hard and while the result is not what we had hoped for, I am incredibly proud of them and their teams on the ground.

We know that by-elections are an opportunity for citizens to send a message to their government. However, a small percentage of people vote in by-elections. The general election will be a different story, in these ridings and across the province. Ontario needs our Liberal plan for economic opportunity and security, and cannot afford Tim Hudak’s radicalism or the risky NDP.

I am proud of our team and want to express my gratitude to you and all Ontario Liberals who volunteered time, donated hard-earned money, and supported us in countless other important ways during these by-elections.
