Departure of MV Saginaw Ends Shipping Season

THUNDER BAY – The Port of Thunder Bay has seen the last ship of the season depart. This brings an end to the 2013 Shipping Season.

On Monday with the departure of MV Saginaw the last ship of the season left port. The vessel loaded a total of 13,000 tonnes of canola at two elevators: Viterra A and Superior Elevator.

The vessel sailed at 21:20PM EST on Monday, January 13th. The MV Saginaw will pass through the Soo Locks just ahead of their seasonal closure, which takes place at midnight Wednesday, January 15 2014

Two vessels have laid up for the winter in the Port of Thunder Bay: MV Capt. Henry Jackman will spend the winter at Lakehead Marine Industrial and MV CSL Tadoussac will winter at Keefer Terminal.
