Winter Storm Warning for Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay is under a Snowfall Warning. Environment Canada states, “An Alberta clipper is expected to track across the Great Lakes today into Saturday. This low pressure system will bring an end to the bitterly cold temperatures which have been occurring. Current information suggests 15 cm of snow is likely for regions along the Trans Canada highway by tonight and across the regions near Lake Superior tonight into Saturday.

Thunder Bay is expected to see snow start this morning with amounts of up to ten centimetres during the day. Tonight an additional amount of up to ten centimetres is expected.

By Saturday the snow will taper off with amounts as much as two centimetres of additional snow expected.

The temperature today is expected to rise to what will feel like a balmy -9c.

Evening temperatures through the weekend and into Monday will stay near -30c. A bitterly cold Arctic ridge of high pressure has established itself across Northern Ontario. However, the winds have become light and the wind chill warning has ended.
