Lakehead UniversityTHUNDER BAY – Entertainment – Lakehead University International Club is hosting a campus wide event to showcase our International students to the local community. It will be happening in conjunction with the Thunder Bay culture days.

The event, “International Students Culture Display”, will be held on Sep 29th, 2013, 12:00-2:00 pm, at Mariners Hall, Marina Park (Directions: Take Bus NO.9, NO.2, NO.11 to get to Water Terminal, Marina Park is the park beside Water Terminal. Mariners Hall is the building beside the fountain in Marina Park. Mariners Hall is in the same building as Bight Restaurant).

The goal of the event is to build a connection between the international students and the local community.

During this event, students from each country will have a stand, where they showcase the pictures or posters of their country, handcrafts from their country, traditional music instruments (for example, Chinese student will show Chinese Piano), traditional games, traditional clothes, traditional culture ceremony, pre-packed traditional snacks will also be provided to the public for free. Basically, anything special for your culture can be presented in this event. Traditional food can be shown to the public, but not to serve to the public because of the “food safety issues”. Also you can print the recipes for making your traditional food and handout to the public. Students from each country can spend up to $50 for the materials needed for displaying. The receipts will be collected on Sep 29 for reimbursement. 

If you feel like participating in this event, please Contact Li Kang, president of Lakehead University Internatioal Students club via email: lkang@lakeheadu.ca. If you want to do traditional dancing and other performances, the stage and instrument will be provided. Please indicate what performance you would like to do in the email sent to Li Kang.

For students, who don’t want to be the ones to present their culture, you also invited to be here for support or to observe other activates hosted by the city in Marina Park for Canada Culturedays.

A round trip school bus ride will be available. School bus will pick up students at Agora at 11:00, Sep 29th before the event. After the event finish, the school bus will pick up students at Marina Park at 3:00, September 29th.
