THUNDER BAY – Volunteer Thunder Bay is celebrating the organization’s volunteers of the month for August.

Sandie Hastie-Black- Volunteer at St John Ambulance

Sandie has shown us what dedication is all about! She has provided more than 84 hours of community service at St John Ambulance this month alone. Her volunteer hours were spent with various events around the city with our Medical First Responder Division, as well as our first ever Camp 911. She enjoys volunteering and is always willing to help whenever it’s needed. Sandie is also an active member of our Youth Cadets Division. She enjoys mentoring youth to teach them emergency first aid. We appreciate all that she does for us, her time and dedication is an incredible example to what we all strive to do to support our community. Thank you, Sandie for all of your hard work.

Archie Colosimo, President, Board of Directors

YES Employment Services

It is rare to find a volunteer as dedicated as Archie Colosimo.  YES Employment Services was established on June 8, 1981 in the basement of St. Paul’s Church when a group of concerned citizens and volunteers recognized the need for focused employment support services to at-risk youth groups in our community.

Archie was one of those volunteers.  Thirty two years later, Archie is YES Employment Services’ current Board of Directors’ President.  Throughout this time, Archie helped successfully guide YES through funding challenges and program delivery and policy changes.

We believe that Archie’s unwavering commitment to the agency and his role in YES Employment Services’ long history of serving local job seekers and employers, deserve to be celebrated.  We are proudly nominating Archie to be “Volunteer of the Month”.
