THUNDER BAY – By the time this report was prepared on August 11 no new fires had been confirmed. A late evening fire in the Elsie Lake area from August 10 has been confirmed as Fort Frances Fire 12. This fire is small at 0.1ha in size and no problems are anticipated putting this fire out.

23 Active Fires

There are 23 active fires in the region, 20 of which are being monitored. All active fires are exhibiting minimal fire behaviour and it is expected that some of the longstanding lightning-caused fires will be called out this week.

Fire Hazard

The forest fire hazard remains low and moderate for the entire Northwest Region.
