THUNDER BAY – Tim Pile from the Metis Nation of Ontario addressed National Aboriginal Day at Prince Arthurs Landing on Friday in Thunder Bay.

Pile shared how there were two Metis communities in Thunder Bay. First was the village of Westfort. Pile commented that it was ‘west of the fort’ when the original Fort William was located in what is now the East End in the city. The second community was where Prince Arthur’s Landing, Marina Park is now located.

The issue of Metis Rights have long been controversial.

The federal government has repeatedly delayed or appealed repeated court decisions on Metis Rights cases.
