THUNDER BAY – MEMO Cuba volunteers are ambassadors for Thunder Bay. The group which is a part of the Global Conscience Circle, operates as the unofficial ‘Department of Foreign Affairs’ for the City of Thunder Bay.

After working hard all Thursday afternoon, removing 30 beds from a highway storage trailer along with 80 boxes of medical supplies, we were back at 9AM Friday morning finishing up at 5:30PM EDT.

El Salvador benefits from Memo Cuba

They were strong, faithful to the end, enjoying each other’s company, and happy to be helping furnish the new clinic in Texacuagos, El Salvador.

Loading the trailer – are you interested in helping May 9th is the next chance to help and make a difference.

At 5PM the doors on the container were finally forced closed, the door seal applied and the truck and container began on it’s way to Toronto to transfer the container to the train for Montreal.

After passing through the Panama canal it should arrive at the Port in El Salvador on May 26th.

Some of the contents include, eye testing equipment, an electric OR table and electro surgical unit, 3 stretchers, nurses carts, 65 computers and 5 servers for the new clinics electronic medical records, printers, piles of therapeutic toys and mobility and support equipment for kids.

Four 400 lb dental chairs with accessories and lights and  a lot of other supplies.

The load was topped up with 50 wheel chairs and 10,000 surgical face masks(in boxes!!)

On Saturday May 11th at 9:00AM at the Lakehead Psychiatric Hospital we will pack another container with all of the clinic furniture etc.

We praise God for this unexpected opportunity to help show God’s love to the people of El Salvador and take some of the pressure off our warehousing. We are still at the 600 Simpson St warehouse in limbo.

No word yet from the Cuban ministry of Health about sending them Medical Equipment.

So we live by faith, only asking for a knowledge of God’s will and the power to carry it out.

Teri Benner the director of the Shalom Family Medical Centre sent this email after getting the Dock Receipt from the packing.

Dr. Harvey,
This is awesome and exciting!  We have been thanking God for His provision and faithfulness.
Blessings,
Teri
