RCMP Service Dog Gus assists in large cash seizure

OLDS -Crime – On Monday April 8th, 2013 shortly after two in the afternoon, a member of RCMP Traffic Services was patrolling near Olds on the QEII in central Alberta. The Officer stopped a vehicle for an apparent traffic violation. 

A CDSA investigation ensued and Police Service Dog Gus, a 4 1/2 year old Chocolate Lab, was utilized.

Upon a search of the vehicle, the officer discovered several large sealed bags of Canadian currency.  The value is estimated to be between three hundred to five hundred thousand dollars.  The driver was arrested under the Criminal Code provisions of Proceeds of Crime and the money was seized.
