THUNDER BAY – Would you like to save some money on your hydro bill? Silly question right? Everyone would like to save some money. Thunder Bay Hydro is making it even easier for Thunder Bay residents to save on energy and turn over a new leaf this fall. This week, Thunder Bay Hydro will host their saveONenergy Coupon Event at various locations in Thunder Bay. The Coupon Event offers cash discounts on energy efficient purchases to every resident.

Thunder Bay Hydro has several local retail partners to support the Coupon Event. Coupons will be distributed to consumers in these partner stores and online for instant savings on a range of energy-efficient products including: ENERGY STAR® LED and CFL light bulbs, power bars with integrated timer or auto-shutoff, weather-stripping, pipe wrap and many more.

Jake Allen, Energy Services Advisor at Thunder Bay Hydro states, “The Coupon Event is extra help for residents who want to save on energy. It supports residential efforts to reduce energy consumption and also save costs in the home. For example, by replacing 5 standard (60W) incandescent light bulbs with CFLs you can save up to $30 per year on your electricity costs.”

Thunder Bay Hydro saveONenergy representatives will be at three different locations in Thunder Bay:

  • October 10, 2012 – 8am-12pm, Home Depot (359 Main St.)
  • October 11, 2012 – 8am-12pm, Canadian Tire (939 Fort William RD.)
  • October 11, 2012 – 12pm-4pm, Canadian Tire (1221 Arthur St. W.)

The Thunder Bay Hydro Nissan LEAF vehicle will also be at these locations to remind consumers about the “Turn Over a New Leaf” campaign. Continues Allen; “We are still encouraging local families to make a pledge and Turn Over a New Leaf to save on energy. These coupons can help families to further demonstrate what they are doing to save on energy as part of the Turn Over a New Leaf contest. Final contest entries are still due in December.”

The winning family of the Turn Over a New Leaf Challenge will be announced on December 20th, 2012. For full details on the challenge and the saveONenergy coupon event please visit: www.tbhydro.saveonenergy.ca
