THUNDER BAY – The Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service (NAPS) started the month of October 2012 with the seizure of $10,700.00 worth of alcohol in several communities in the North. On October 2, 2012, an Attawapiskat Detachment member seized a street value of $5,400.00 dollars worth of 750ml bottles of liquor. On the same date, an officer at the Fort Albany Detachment seized $4.000.00 dollars worth of 750ml bottles of liquor.

On October 3, 2012, an officer from the Muskrat Dam Detachment seized $1,300.00 dollars worth of liquor and contraband.

No charges have been laid at this time, however members of the public are encouraged to contact Nishnawbe-Aski Police with any information in relation to these occurrences or any other alcohol or drug smuggling activities.
