Crimebeat – 67 year old Thunder Bay man dead following collision

NNLCRIMEbeatTHUNDER BAY – Crimebeat – Thunder Bay Police have released more details on an accident that happened on Northern Avenue. A 67 year-old Thunder Bay man is dead following a collision in the 100 block of Northern Avenue. It is alleged that his car was struck by a truck driven by a 20 year old male. The collision occurred just before 10:30PM on Sunday May 20, 2012.

20 year old Shane Lawrence Kolody was taken into custody at the scene, and faces charges of Criminal Negligence Causing Death, and Possession of Stolen Property Over $5,000. Kolody remains in custody.

Kolody was the subject of a police investigation by the Thunder Bay Police Service at the time of this incident. As a result, the Ontario Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate and are investigating the incident.

The name of the deceased will be released once next of kin has been notified.
