Team Ontario wins the Bronze Medal at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships!

national Aboriginal hockey-Team OntarioTHUNDER BAY – Team Ontario played against Alberta in a game that came down to the last minute of play. With 45 seconds left in the third period, Alberta scored to come within one goal of tying the game. However, Team Ontario was able to hold off the competition to win a bronze medal at the championships.

Local Thunder Bay resident and Team Ontario goalie Natasha Lyons, and other aboriginal female Midget age elite level players have competed this week in Saskatoon SK at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championship. This championship gives aboriginal youth a chance to showcase their skills and talents, as well as learn teamwork, leadership and friendship.

The team returns home to their respective communities Sunday May 13, 2012 with Northwestern Ontario and Thunder Bay players returning at 3:08pm arriving at Thunder Bay International Airport. Team Ontario female team will return with a bronze medal from their final game today.
