Elekta Bachelors for HopeTHUNDER BAY – Healthbeat – Every year the Elekta Bachelors for Hope Charity Auction attracts women seeking a good night out with girlfriends. Not only does this entertaining evening provide a great venue for good food, great drinks, and endless laughs with friends, but it also provides a great venue to raise funds towards a disease that affects us all — breast cancer.

On April 19, ladies will spend an evening entertained by ten of Thunder Bay’s finest bachelors. After a gourmet meal, ladies feverishly bid on the attractive bachelors.

“Each year women around Thunder Bay look forward to this event. It’s a great excuse to get together with your girlfriends and raise funds towards the Northern Cancer Fund,” said Athena Kreiner, Senior Development Officer at the Health Sciences Foundation.

Every bachelor comes with a lavish date package, including a pampering package for the successful bidder, a lunch and a dinner at one of Thunder Bay’s great restaurants, and a main event. Successful bidders can choose to take the bachelor on the date, take their significant other, or go with a group of friends.

This year some of the fabulous date packages include a trip for two to Montreal; a fly-in-fishing excursion for four; and a 7-night stay including airfare, hotel and car rental for two to Napa Valley.

Not only do women have a chance to win a date package with (or without) a bachelor, but they also have the chance to raise funds towards a meaningful cause.

The Elekta Bachelors for Hope Charity Auction continues to be a successful fundraiser for the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation’s Northern Cancer Fund. 100% of the funds raised from the Bachelor Auction remain in Northwestern Ontario and are used towards funding breast cancer awareness campaigns, screening, treatment, and recovery. In the first 13 years, the event has raised $657,183 towards the cause, and regularly sells out.

“This year we are excited to announce a new raffle, sponsored by 5 Forks Fine Food & Drink. Throughout the evening we will be selling tickets for a girls-night-out date package. This new date-package includes evening limo service, dinner at 5 Forks, and a show at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium. Valued at $1,500, one lucky lady will go home with an all-inclusive night out with nine of her best friends,” said Kreiner.
