Santa Claus TweetTHUNDER BAY – It is starting to get closer to the day that millions of children around the world look forward too. For Canadian youth, the word from NAV Canada is that Santa Claus has filed his flight plan with the navigation service for his annual annual Dec 24 flight. In addition, it appears that Santa Claus has also joined Twitter.

NAV CANADA received a Twitter message from Santa Claus. Sent from his “Captain S. Claus” account, this marks the first time the veteran pilot contacted the air navigation service provider through Twitter. The message read, “I filed my Christmas Eve flight plan. Will you help me guide my sleigh through Canada’s sky?”

NAV CANADA tweeted back, “You can count on us Santa. We’re all ready for you as you fly across the country and over parts of the Atlantic.”

“We’re not surprised that Santa is using social media to get out his message,” said a NAV CANADA official. “Despite being over 1,000 years old, he has all the latest toys and technology.”

In another first, Captain Claus filed his flight plan through NAV CANADA’s newly launched Internet flight planning system. “This saved literally millions of sheets of paper and tons of paperwork for Santa. The guy has enough lists to manage and check.”

“Working on holidays is a part of the job, but one of the perks of working on Christmas Eve is that you get to talk to Santa,” said one Air Traffic Controller. “Not only is he a good pilot, but he’s also a very jolly fellow.”
