Lakehead UniversityTHUNDER BAY – Lakehead Thunderwolves Women’s Volleyball are excited to present the 4th annual Junior Girls Thunder Volley from December 2-3. This year’s event has expanded to include 14 teams and the two-day event will take place at Lakehead’s two gymnasiums at the C.J. Sanders Fieldhouse and Port Arthur Collegiate Institution.

Visiting Thunder Bay are multiple teams from Atikokan and Dryden, with St. Thomas Aquinas coming from Kenora. Also visiting is Queen Elizabeth High School from Sioux Lookout!

Teams from Thunder Bay include Churchill, Westgate, Hammarskjold, St. Patrick’s, St. Ignatius, and Superior.

Lakehead coach and Thunder Volley organizer Chris Green states, “Volleyball in the North West region has grown by leaps and bounds. It is awesome to see schools from outside Thunder Bay sending multiple teams and exposing so many players to court time and a broad field of competition. Seeing a full compliment of junior teams from Thunder Bay schools is also a satisfying aspect to this event. Our varsity girls have worked hard to promote the sport and we are seeing the results of their efforts. I want to wish all the young athletes and coaches the best of luck this weekend. I am sure we will see more of these athletes in the near future.”

The tournament will begin Friday, December 2 at 4:45 pm, with the championship game happening Saturday at 2:00 pm in the Thunderdome (C.J. Sanders Fieldhouse).
