ThunderwolvesTHUNDER BAY – The Lakehead cross country team competes at the OUA meet this weekend, hosted by the University of Ottawa. Lakehead has had a great season thus far, placing well at highly competitive tournaments in Minnesota, Wisconsin and in the region so far this season.

Led by Tess Naroski (Thunder Bay, ON), Hilary Quirion (Thunder Bay, ON) for the women, and Alastair Brown (Winnipeg, MB) and Dominique Aulagnon (North Bay, ON) on the men’s side, a very similar Thunderwolves team finished just shy of qualifying last year for the CIS tournament on the women’s side.

Coach Kip Sigsworth sees an opportunity for his team to improve on last year’s progress this weekend. “I am excited heading into the weekend. Both teams have had great regular seasons and put themselves in a good position to challenge for a top 5 spot. Lakehead’s best ever OUA finish as a team is 4th on the women’s side and 6th on the men’s and we are looking to meet or surpass those finishes. The Ottawa course looks to be a very demanding one which will play to our strengths.”

The women’s race begins at 11:00 am, with the men following at 12:15.
