Lakehead Baseball Team Goes 2-2 over Weekend in Wisconsin

ThunderwolvesMADISON, WI – (Courtesy Jason Hart)- Lakehead won their first game on Friday night against District V West 2011 Conference Champion University of Wisconsin Badgers 2-1.

Marquette University 4

On Saturday they played Division I Marquette University and scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to complete a 5-4 comeback win.
Ian MacDonald was the winning pitcher tossing 3 innings of relief of starter Aaron Lagadin. Lagadin drove in the winning run with a double off the wall in the bottom of the 6th to score Kyle Booth with the winning run.

Aaron Lagadin 2-4 with 1 rbi
Alex Sinkins 1-1, with a pinch hit single in the bottom of the 6th that tied the game at 4-4.

University of Minnesota 3

LU lost in the bottom of the 7th inning on a base hit with the infield drawn in.

Aaron Lagadin 1-3 with 1 run scored
Drew Childs 1-4 with 1 run scored
Zach Kotarac pitched 5+ innings striking out 5 and allowing 1 earned run on 5 hits.
Keifer Sutch picked up the loss in relief.

Game #4
Lakehead University 4
DePaul University 7

DePaul University scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to take a 7-4 win over the Thunderwolves. LU had fought back to take a 3-2 lead before the Blu Devils erupted for 4 runs in the 6th.

Zach Kotarac 2-3 with an rbi double and a triple
Jon Brattengeier was 1-3 with an rbi triple
Aaron Lagadin was 1-2 with a run scored
Ben Dupuis took the loss despite tossing 3+ innings of relief and only allowing 2 earned runs on 1 hit .

LU is now 8-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play. Next up for the Thunderwolves is a 3 game conference series this weekend (Oct 15-16) against the University of Minnesota. Game times are:

Saturday at Noon and 2 p.m.
Sunday at 11 a.m.
