Strong Thunderstorms Going Through Thunder Bay

Thunder Bay Skies Sept 12 2011THUNDER BAY – Updated – Storm warning has ended… September 12- 2011 – The Weather Network states, “A line of strong to severe thunderstorms extending from near Cameron Falls southwest across suomi then into Northeastern Minnesota will cross the Lakehead area at Thunder Bay then move out over Western Lake Superior near 6.30 PM. The thunderstorms may produce 2 to 3 cm hail and wind gusts of 100 km/h. Intense lightning and torrential downpours are possible as well. Severe thunderstorms are imminent or occurring in the area. These storms may produce large hail, damaging winds or heavy rainfall. Remember that some severe thunderstorms can also produce tornadoes.”

Skies across the City of Thunder Bay have been a strange colour all afternoon. As well there is the strong smell of smoke in the air. It is from a forest fire in Minnesota.

At 6:00PM on the north side of the city, it is as dark as if it were 9PM.

Right now parts of the city are experiencing heavy rain.
