Frost Warning in Effect West of Thunder Bay

Weather AlertTHUNDER BAY – It is a sure sign that it is September, for Atikokan, Shebandowan, Raith, Upsula, Gull Bay, and Black Sturgeon Lake there is a frost warning in effect issued by Environment Canada.

Temperatures tonight under clearing skies and diminishing winds are expected to plunge to near the freezing mark in many areas as an Arctic high pressure ridge builds in from the Prairies. The mercury may remain near freezing for several hours overnight until shortly after dawn on Monday especially in locales where the sky clears a little more quickly.

In Thunder Bay, temperatures tonight under clearing skies and diminishing winds are expected to plunge to within a few degrees of the freezing mark as an Arctic high pressure ridge builds in from the prairies. As a result frost is possible in many areas overnight into Monday morning.

Over the Atikokan – Upsala – Quetico, Sioux Lookout – Savant Lake and
Lake Nipigon – Wabakimi regions, the Mercury will plunge to near the
freezing mark for a few hours overnight into Monday morning. Frost
warnings are in effect as a result for these areas.

Hence frost is quite possible in many areas by morning.

Tender plants should be protected or brought indoors if possible by this evening.
