Canadian MoneyTHUNDER BAY – Today, Thunder Bay Counselling Centre kicked off a unique service to help Thunder Bay residents and families get in financial shape. Get a Money Coach is a new Financial Coaching Series designed to improve the financial health of local families through personal training and support.

Thunder Bay Counselling Centre, Executive Director, Nancy Chamberlain shares, “As consumers we are accustomed to using a coach for help to improve our health, fitness and performance. At Thunder Bay Counselling Centre, we believe that the same concept can help consumers to improve their financial health. A money coach is a personal trainer for the wallet.”

Personal debt is proven to be the biggest financial problem facing Canadians and in 2010, consumers continued to borrow at record levels despite the recession. In 2010, the average Canadian adult had over $40,000 in household credit, double the debt we carried in 2000. Thunder Bay Counselling Centre reports that reducing debt or becoming debt free is a goal that most Thunder Bay consumers want to achieve. Through this new Financial Coaching Series in Thunder Bay, local consumers will learn the secrets to monthly and annual budgeting – and the important realities of credit and debt.

“A Money Coach will work personally with you to take the stress out of money matters. Your coach will help you make a financial plan, stay motivated and support you every step of the way as you become financially fit,” concluded Chamberlain.

Thunder Bay Counselling Centre’s Financial Coaching Series is open to people of all ages and includes six personalized sessions that can be spread out over a period of up to a year. For more information visit us on-line at: tbaycounselling.com
