Ottawa Senators sign Alex AuldTHUNDER BAY – Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray announced today the club has signed goaltender Alex Auld to a one-year contract. Auld, 30, spent the 2010-11 season with the Montreal Canadiens, where he played 16 games, posting a 6-2-2 record with a 2.64 goals-against average and .914 save percenage.

The native of Thunder Bay, Ont., returns to Ottawa, where he played 43 games during the 2008-09 season. Auld began his career with the Vancouver Canucks and has also played with the Florida Panthers, Phoenix Coyotes, Boston Bruins, Dallas Stars and New York Rangers.

In 223 career National Hockey League games, Auld has posted a 89-84-2-6 record with six career shutouts, a 2.77 goals-against-average and a .905 save percentage. Auld was Florida’s second-round pick (40th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
