Android TimesTHUNDER BAY – More anglers and hunters can benefit from the latest technological advancements in smartphones as FishMate and FishMate Pro — two of the most popular iPhone fishing apps in the world — are now available to owners of Androids.

In addition, a unique saltwater fishing application – or “app” in tech speak – plus two popular hunting apps, all previously released on iPhone, will soon be available for “Droids” this summer.

Designed in early 2010 specifically to help anglers load their live wells, the FishMate and FishMate Pro pack an incredible array of data and information into one easy-to-use interface on both smartphone platforms.

FishMate creator Sammy Lee, drawing on more than 30 years of experience as a former pro tournament angler, a marine industry rep and a professional broadcaster, designed what he terms “killer iPhone and Android apps for fishermen everywhere.”

A growing number of B.A.S.S. Elite Pro Anglers on the leading edge of app technology, who use and endorse FishMate and/or FishMate Pro for their tour fishing include Aaron Martens, the second place finisher in the 2011 Bassmasters Classic; BASS Classic qualifiers Tommy Biffle and Kelly Jordon. “Not only the pros but the younger collegiate anglers who are tournament fishing, are quickly purchasing these apps for a competitive edge,” he added. “It’s a constant companion.”

Features and benefits on the numerous screens include the best “Fishin’ Times” for the day at your location – worldwide — with times for moonrise and moonset, sunrise and sunset, current moon phase, plus the major and minor feeding periods. A touch of the screen also takes you to current weather conditions, including temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, wind speed and direction. There’s also an extended forecast prepared for your current location or anywhere else you plan to wet a hook. Other features include tournament news, fishing tips and tackle information from the most informed sources in the industry, including the BASS Reporter’s Notebook and FLW.

Along with FishMate, FishMate Pro offers all those features plus more including 100 mile radius color radar updated every 15 minutes.

FirstMate, another Droid app, targeted to the saltwater angler, will be available June 1, while HuntMate, an app for avid hunters and its more sophisticated version HuntMate Pro will be offered on July 1.
