THUNDER BAY – It is back to the bargaining table in the effort to come to a contract at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. Both sides in the strike at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine have agreed to return to the negotiating table Nov. 1 in a bid to reach an agreement under the supervision of a provincially-appointed mediator.

“We look forward to returning to the table with renewed energy and a focus on bringing this labour dispute to an end,” said Tyler England, chair of the bargaining team for Local 677 of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union which represents striking administrative, clerical and technical staff at NOSM campuses at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay and Laurentian University in Sudbury.

“We trust that management also shares this commitment to reaching a just and fair agreement.”

Members of Local 677 have been on strike since Aug. 16. An earlier tentative agreement was rejected by the workers on Oct. 12.
